So our new-ish favorite restaurant in Wichita is Lotte. We went there pretty early on, probably a year ago, and have been back several times since.
It is a fun, but loud, place. Fortunately, it has a chef’s counter, so you can watch the kitchen. That way you don’t look as weird not talking to your beloved, but deaf, dinner companion.
It has a new menu every eight weeks or so, but with some things carrying over from menu to menu.

This time, we went with my brother and sister-in-law. They had never been, but now believe with the fervor of a convert.
One constant is the tater tots. I could just sit at the counter, say “keep ’em coming until I say stop.” and sit there happily for a good long while.

Tater tot with trout roe, crème fresche, and chive.
Next is usually a salad or soup. This time I got a sunchoke soup, and forgot to take a picture. The Husband got the Tuna Crudo. I was coveting my neighbor’s scallion pancake.
The husband got the lamb orecchiette, his second round on that one, at least. So one time, we were there and he got the lamb, but since it had pasta in it, I couldn’t try it (damn you celiac). The chef overheard me say to the Husband that I wished I could try the lamb, it looked amazing. About five minutes later, here comes the chef with a plate with a small portion of lamb on it so I could taste. It’s that kind of place. ❤️

He also gets an order of brioche for breakfast the next day. Like a monster.
I got the braised short rib, which was oh my god good. I took a bite and just closed my eyes. The chef saw and came over to comment. lol.

Braised short rib with celeriac and potato purée.
The husband got a dessert – a sweet potato tres leches cake, and I got a latte.

I love this place, and can’t wait for the next menu.
