Mother of Chickens

I Kate, of house Goad, first of her name, Mother of Dragons Chickens…

So we’ve been having terrible storms. Rain for days, flooding, end times like.

Yesterday we lost power at about 5:30 in the morning. We didn’t have a genny. And we have seven tiny beings that need to be kept at approximately body temperature. Fortunately, we have a gas range that doesn’t rely on electricity except for the spark. So I got up, boiled some water, and swapped out hot water bottles for them every fifteen minutes until the electricity came back on.

What do we say to the god of death, little ones?

I worked by the light of a bright flashlight behind an empty milk carton until the sun came up.

The Husband went into town to buy a generator, and as soon as he came back the lights came back on.

Because of course they did.

But all was well, and the little ones survived.
