Buying Chicks 2021

So we are getting ready for a hatch, but we are also buying chickens. I do not have a problem. Okay?

We are only buying 26.

Ok, maybe a little problem (I love that autocorrect suggested “a little pterodactyl”).

We are getting (all pics from the Meyer website):

Two Lakeshore Eggers – blue eggs

Two Blue – blue eggs

Four Rhode Island Reds – brown eggs

Four Buff Orpingtons – brown eggs

Two Speckled Sussex – brown eggs

Two Welsummers – speckled eggs

Two Salmon Favorelles – pinkish eggs

Two golden laced polish – white eggs

Two white Sultans – white eggs

Two mottled houdans- white eggs

And two Buff Brahmas – brown eggs

So yeah, I totally don’t have a problem. Nope.

  1. Ha! I’m the same. Getting ready to order some cornish cross because last year’s batch were sooo delicious! You are going to have a lovely rainbow of egg colors with these. 🙂

  2. They are beautiful! I “only” have 11 blue sapphires… But if you say some 30 chickens is perfectly normal, I think I need to visit my local hatchery soon. 💁‍♀️👩‍🌾🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥
