We started our journey of goat babies when we bought Pickles for $35. We had just bought Cookie, but no one was bidding on this fella. He was a tiny, tiny boy.
We bought him on March 31, 2023 with his sister, Cookie.

It took him a bit to adjust, but eventually he did.

Since then, he has been diligent in his role as herd sire. In the three years of his life, he has sired at least 26 kids.

He still thinks he is a lap goat.

Anyway. We loved Pickles, and he is going to a home where he can be a new herd sire.
So where does marketing come into play? Well, we saw a lot of goats going for $30-$40. We figured that was the going rate, and expected the same for our boys.
Our goats are socialized and friendly. Cute. We also felt guilty about selling them, so we played with them at the auction. This led to them looking cuter for buyers, including for families. And we are able to answer questions.
As a result, our goats go for significantly more. From $60 to $160. Pickles went for $80.
