Accidental Homesteader

So last you heard on the kid front was our first one was still born. The rest of the spring went better, and Violet was a wonderful aunt,

Next up was Oreo. She had two boys, Bertie and Jasper. On January 28. We just walked out and boom! Kids.

The next day was Iris. She had a girl, Mollie Spots. My friend Andy passed, and Mollie Spots was one of his songs.

Then we waited… and waited… Clover should be due, but we weren’t seeing any progress. Cookie, on the other hand was getting fat.

So we got the kids into the Subaru for a trip to the vet. Both Clover and Cookie were pregnant.

So we wait more… then May 7th. Stormy and windy, so she looked like she was going to give birth, because of course… but she waited until the 8th, which was sunny and happy. Thus their names. Happy was so tiny.

They were lap goats from the start.

Finally, on May 29, we rounded out our kidding season with Clover’s kids. Black Francis and Foster.

But another season is upon us. Both Oreo and Cookie are pregnant again!

They are due (supposedly) on November 15th and 25th respectively, but I’m not sure how much longer Oreo has. She fat.

So not too bad for our first kidding season. One stillborn, six males, and one female.
