Accidental Homesteader

After five months of chicken husbandry, we finally have payoff! Our very first egg (that we know of)

It was delicious.

And small. But h/t to Backyard Chickeens for the tip. We left them inside for a little longer this morning, and an egg was there when we let them out!  As the weather gets cooler, we can do that more often, and hopefully they will get used to laying an egg before leaving the house.

Being carnivores, we of course ate the egg almost immediately.

We each got two bites.
